God’s Life Changing Love

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. (Ephesians 3:17, 18 NLT)

I Will Be Content No Matter What

So I’ll be the first to admit, I am a complainer. The thing I use to tell people is in order to make it through my situation, circumstances, or life I must complain. It was my copping mechanism.

How silly of me?

As I was reading my daily devotion, the focus for the day was contentment. Hmm… Something as Christians, we hear that we should exercise, not matter what our circumstances.

But let’s be for real. How many of us exhibit being content? I can for one raise my hand and say that is not me. I’m not even content when things are going well.

So what can we do to be content? We must remember gratitude.

n. Cause of happiness or joy. Expressing appreciation for something or someone.

n. Cause of happiness or joy. Expressing appreciation for something or someone.

Why gratitude? Well because God takes care of..He fixes our messes…displays unconditional love. Yes, the list can go on and on.

But really take the time and think about it. Shouldn’t we be content with our lives. You can probably think of one person who is worst off then you. And while this may sound cliché, it is very true. We might not have everything, but the Lord our God supplies our needs. (Philippians 4:19)

I admonish you to really meditate on this scripture when Paul talks about being content:

“11Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”-Philippians 4:11-13

And while these things are great to remember, we should also take action to work on having a spirit of contentment. My devotion suggested EVERDAY, we list 10 things/people we are grateful for. Here is my list

  1. My Family
  2. My Job
  3. My Friends
  4. My Health
  5. God’s love for me
  6. The love others have for me
  7. The love I have for myself
  8. Ability to see
  9. Ability to breathe
  10. Ability to share God’s goodness with you.

God has been to good for us to complain about what we are lacking. So I am charging all of us, including MYSELF, that the next time we think about complaining think about ALL God has done for us.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear God,

We just telling you thank you. God thank you for loving us despite our spirits of complaining. We take for granted the things you have blessed us with. And we want to apologize for that.

God we are tired of being little whiny children. We want to have a heart and spirit of contentment. No matter what things look like, we want to show our gratitude. God reminds us to be content and still where ever you place us. For this is all a part of the process you are taking us through.

God, we just love you and thank you!

Amen! Amen! Amen!

Doing EVERYTHING unto the Lord…work included

I promised myself that every night that I would blog about what God has revealed to me that day. And although it is midnight now as I type this post, I am still committed to sharing God’s wisdom with you all.

Over the past few days, I have made a great professional contact with the founder of the non-profit, SoGiv. SoGiv is an organization committed to not only serving local individuals and groups, but also folks around the world.

Founder Edward Bogard shared with me how as a young man, he always knew he wanted to design shoes. But never would he have fathom that his passion would turn into his purpose. Now, proceeds from the footwear and apparel he sells goes to serving those in need.

As he was sharing his testimony, I realized that God has blessed me in similar way. When I was a little girl, I LOVED writing. I even has one of my short stories posted.

Now, everyday I write for a living. I serve as news producer for the NBC affiliate in Memphis, WMC-TV. It is my job to ensure Mid-Southerners are informed about what’s going on in their community.

And while I have to use my newsworthy judgment about what goes into the newscast, I do have more freedom in what I can write and share online. Just today, I wrote about SoGiv’s chance to win Walmart’s “Get on the Shelf” contest. You can check out the story here.

I can’t speak for Edward, but at least I can say for myself what keeps me motivated as a writer and share the things going on in this region is Colossians 3:23-24:

“23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

It is yet another way to serve the people of God. Jesus didn’t come to be serve, although he definitely deserved it. I mean come on he is the King of King. But the entire time he was on Earth and even now he lived by Mark 10:45:

“45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Everyday I am striving to be more Christlike, so I must treat my work as serving the people of the Mid-South.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear God,

I just want to first of all tell you thank you. Thank you so much for thinking of every intricate detail about me, including giving me the passion to write and share with your people. It is through that passion, I am able to reveal your glory and goodness.

God, remind that on days when I feel like my passion has left me, I must keep going. I must do this work as though I am doing it unto you.

Thank you God for this opportunity to serve your people. I do not take this lightly.  I am forever grateful! I love you!

Amen! Amen! Amen!

Confidence In God

“For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”-Isaiah 55:9

Confidence by Tasha Cobbs

I got so much faith in, Lord I trust your word it’s true
No matter the circumstance, my life is in your hands
I’ve got confidence, so much confidence, in you

Your love has been so good to me, it’s so unfailing
My heart is in your hands, you hold the master plan
I’ve got confidence, so much confidence in you
I’ve got confidence, so much confidence in you

Your Ways are

Higher, Deeper,

How you do what you do, but you do what you do

I’ve got confidence, so much confidence in you

Why We Shouldn’t Worry

Don't Worry“”So don’t worry about these things, saying ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously and he will give you everything you need.” “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” -Matthew 6:31-34
